Declan Rice was born on January 14, 1999, in Kingston upon Thames, Greater London, England. He was born to English parents, Sean Rice and Stephanie Rice, and he grew up in Kingston upon Thames, a town in southwest London, England. When Rice was two years old, he began playing football at Dickerage Lane Adventure Playground in Kingston.

Rice swiftly picked up where he’d left off at West Ham, scoring his first league goal for his new club in stoppage time to grant his team a 2–1 lead against Manchester United in a match that ended in a 3–1 win.

The 2024/25 season was even more successful for Rice, as he scored his first UEFA Champions League goal in a 3–0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb. Rice made history after he netted two direct free kick goals in a 3–0 home win over reigning champions Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, becoming the first player ever to score two free kicks in a Champions League knockout phase match. At the end of the season, Rice was voted the Arsenal Player of the Season. He was also selected for the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season by UEFA’s Technical Observer Group and nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

Rice extended his strong run into the 2025-26 season by scoring his first goal against former team West Ham United in a 2-0 Premier League home win. On 4 December, he was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for November.

Personal Life

Declan Rice and Mason Mount have been best friends since childhood, having met around age 6–8 while playing in the Chelsea academy. He has two older brothers, Connor and Jordan.

Rice and his partner, Lauren Fryer, joyfully welcomed their first child in August 2022.
