Early Life
Florian Wirtz was born on May 3, 2003, in Pulheim, Germany. He is the son of the chairman of Grün-Weiß Brauweiler, Hans-Joachim Wirtz, and a former football player who is of German origin. Wirtz has nine siblings, four brothers and five sisters. His older sister Juliane is a professional footballer as well. As a child, Wirtz started playing at a local club, Grün-Weiß Brauweiler, before later joining the youth team of 1. FC Köln in 2010, where he remained until he was signed by Bayer Leverkusen in January 2020.

Liverpool
On 20 June 2025, Wirtz joined Liverpool (Premier League champions at the time) on a long-term contract for a total package of £116 million, including £100 million guaranteed plus add-ons from Bayer Leverkusen. On 27 December, Wirtz scored his first goal for Liverpool in a 2–1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
