Also known as the “HurriKane” or “The Hurricane,” Harry Kane is widely celebrated as one of the best strikers and most complete number nines in the world. Kane had his most successful years with Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich and holds the distinction of being the first player to finish as the Bundesliga top scorer in his first two seasons. Harry Kane signed a four-year contract with Bayern Munich in August 2023, with the transfer fee reported at €100 million, one of the most expensive deals in Bundesliga history. His base salary at Bayern stands at €20 million per year, with total annual compensation reaching approximately €25 million when performance bonuses and image rights are factored in, making him the highest-paid player in Bundesliga history, surpassing the previous record held by Robert Lewandowski. Early life
Harry Edward Kane was born on July 28, 1993, at Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone, London, to Patrick and Kim Kane and has one older brother, Charlie. He has Irish ancestry through his father, who was born in County Galway. Kane’s father, Eric, was a semi-professional footballer in the 1960s, playing for clubs including Brentwood Town. Kane was educated at Larkswood Primary Academy and Chingford Foundation School. Kane played youth football with his local club, Ridgeway Rovers, as well as with the youth teams of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Kane continued progressing through Spurs’ youth ranks before signing his first professional contract in 2010.
Club career
Before Kane made his senior professional debut for Tottenham Hotspur, he had loan spells at clubs across the English football pyramid, including Leyton Orient, Millwall, Leicester City, and Norwich City, before establishing himself in the first team.

After signing his first professional contract with Tottenham in July 2010, Kane became a regular starter in 2014–15, scoring 31 goals across all competitions and earning the PFA Young Player of the Year award. In the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons, he finished as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, winning three Golden Boots in total during his time at the club. Bayern Munich
Kane joined Bayern Munich in August 2023 for a fee of €110 million, the most expensive signing in Bundesliga history. In his debut season, he scored 36 Bundesliga goals, winning the European Golden Boot. He won his first major career trophy in 2024–25, lifting the Bundesliga title with Bayern, and has since won a second consecutive Bundesliga title in 2025–26, along with the UEFA Super Cup. In the 2025–26 Bundesliga season, he has recorded 36 goals and 5 assists across 28 appearances and scored in both legs of Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid to help them reach the semi-finals.
International career
Kane made his senior England debut in March 2015 and scored just 80 seconds after coming on as a substitute. He was named England captain ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he won the Golden Boot with six goals and led England to fourth place. He captained England to the Euro 2020 final and to the Euro 2024 final, finishing as joint-top scorer in the latter tournament. On October 14, 2025, he scored a brace against Latvia to secure England’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Kane has scored 78 goals in 112 appearances for England, making him their all-time top goalscorer, and he is also the highest-scoring English player in UEFA Champions League history with 53 goals.
Personal life
Harry Kane married his wife, Katie Goodland, in June 2019. The couple has four children together, 2 daughters and 2 sons.
In addition to playing football, Kane founded the Harry Kane Foundation, which supports community development, children’s health, and mental health. Additionally, he is a co-owner of the real estate company Edwards James Investments. His older brother Charlie, who attended the same schools and grew up alongside him in Chingford, serves as his agent.
In recognition of his contributions to football, Kane was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2019 New Year’s Honours.
