Salary

Gabriel Magalhães joined Arsenal from Lille in September 2020 on a five-year contract for a reported fee of £27 million, initially earning £27,500 per week. Lille

After playing for Lille II, he was loaned to Troyes and then Dinamo Zagreb, where he won a league and cup double in 2017–18, before returning to Lille and establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s most promising centre-backs.

Arsenal

In September 2020, Arsenal paid a club record £27 million transfer fee for Gabriel, who signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club. He made his debut on the opening day of the season, scoring the second goal in a 3–0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage. He won Arsenal Player of the Month in September, October, and December of his first season, the first of five such awards during his time at the club. Gabriel has made over 210 appearances for Arsenal, scoring more goals than any other defender in the club’s history during that span, and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for both the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons. In April 2025, he suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham that required surgery, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. International career

Gabriel represented Brazil at the under-20 level at the 2017 South American U-20 Championship and was named in the squad for the 2020 Summer Olympics but was forced to withdraw with a knee injury. He made his senior debut on 9 September 2023 in a 5–1 World Cup qualifying win against Bolivia and scored his first international goal against Venezuela in October 2023. He was part of Brazil’s squad at the 2024 Copa América in the United States and has since remained a key figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup as Brazil prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Gabriel and his partner, Gabrielle Figueiredo, joyfully welcomed their first child in March 2022. In addition, he is also the cousin of fellow professional footballer Denner Alves Evangelista Pereira.
