What religion is Max Dowman?

Max Dowman is a professional English footballer who is a Christian. He is often referred to as one of Arsenal’s “Bible Brothers” alongside teammates like Gabriel Magalhães and others. Max Dowman plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger for Premier League club Arsenal. He also represents England U19 at the international level. With Arsenal, Dowman made history by becoming the youngest player ever to win the Premier League title. He began his senior career with the English club Arsenal during the 2025–26 season after spending ten years with the youth academy of Arsenal.

Salary

In October 2025, Dowman signed a two-year scholarship contract with Arsenal. Under Arsenal’s academy wage structure, players under 17 can earn a maximum of £350 per week and cannot sign a professional contract until they turn 17. Amid his forthcoming 17th birthday on December 31, Dowman is set to sign his first professional contract with Arsenal, a three-year deal running until 2029, at which point his base salary will rise to £35,000 per week, approximately £1.82 million per year.

Early life

Max Dowman was born on December 31, 2009, in Chelmsford, Essex, England, and grew up in nearby Billericay. He was raised in a football-loving family of devoted Arsenal supporters. He began playing football at the age of five when his father first introduced him to Billericay Town FC, the club he coached and played football for. His talent shone early, leading him to join Arsenal’s Hale End academy in 2015, the same academy that produced Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, and Jack Wilshere. He is very distantly related to George Male, who played for Arsenal either side of World War II. Dowman has represented England at the youth level since 2024, becoming the youngest-ever goalscorer for the under-19s on November 15, 2025. He is currently completing his secondary education through a school affiliated with Arsenal’s academy while simultaneously training with the club’s first team.

Club career

Dowman progressed through Arsenal’s Hale End academy from the age of eight before beginning his historic first-team breakthrough in 2025. In August 2025, he became the youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League at 15 years and 235 days old, making his debut against Leeds United and winning a penalty in a 5–0 win. In November 2025, he became the youngest player ever to appear in the UEFA Champions League at 15 years and 308 days old. On March 14, 2026, he came on as a substitute and scored in the 97th minute of a 2–0 win over Everton, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 73 days old, breaking James Vaughan’s record by 197 days and also overtaking Cesc Fàbregas as Arsenal’s youngest-ever scorer in any competition. On the final day of the 2025–26 season against Crystal Palace, he became the youngest player ever to start a Premier League match at 16 years and 144 days, helping Arsenal receive the title guard of honor as Premier League champions, making him also the youngest-ever Premier League winner. He was subsequently named the Premier League Home Grown Debutant of the Season by the Football Development Panel.

On the global stage, Dowman made his England under-19 debut in September 2025 against Ukraine and quickly became the side’s youngest-ever goalscorer on November 15, 2025. Despite widespread calls for him to be fast-tracked into the senior setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, England manager Thomas Tuchel opted to include Arsenal teammate Ethan Nwaneri in the senior preparation camp instead, committing to a structured development path for Dowman through the youth ranks. His market value has soared to approximately €23 million as of 2026.

Personal life

At just 16 years old, Max still lives with his parents in Essex.

Despite becoming the youngest player in history to win the Premier League title, Dowman couldn’t just party with his teammates. He had to miss crucial first-team training sessions right before the season finale because he was actively sitting for his high school GCSE exams.
