Eberechi Eze is an English professional footballer who is known as a practicing Christian. He often points to the sky after goals and has publicly thanked God, including claiming that God answered his prayer for a hat-trick in a North London derby. During his time at QPR, Eze earned £404 per week in 2016–17, rising to £1,000 in 2017–18, £5,250 in 2018–19, and £7,500 in his final season before departing. In August 2020, Crystal Palace signed Eze for £17 million, a record sale for QPR, placing him on £30,000 per week, instantly making him a millionaire footballer. Early life

Eberechi Oluchi Eze was born on 29 June 1998 in Greenwich, Greater London, to Igbo Nigerian immigrant parents from Mbaise, Imo State. He has two brothers, Chimaechi, who is also a footballer currently developing in Crystal Palace’s under-21 setup, and Ikechi, who plays for Potters Bar Town. Eze’s formal football journey began at Arsenal’s academy, which he joined at age nine. He subsequently passed through the academies of Fulham, Reading, and Millwall, where he was denied a professional contract at the end of the 2015–16 season before signing his first professional contract with QPR on August 3, 2016.

Queens Park Rangers

On August 3, 2016, Eze signed his first professional contract with QPR and made his first-team debut in an FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers in January 2017. He spent a loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers in 2017–18, scoring five goals in 20 appearances, before returning to establish himself as a regular at QPR. His breakthrough season came in 2019–20, when he scored 14 goals and provided eight assists, earning both the QPR Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards and attracting the attention of Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace

From QPR, Eze moved to the Premier League club Crystal Palace on a five-year contract. He really hit form following the reappointment of Roy Hodgson in 2022–23, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 10 goals. His goal output increased in each subsequent season, and he departed Crystal Palace having scored 34 Premier League goals, fourth in the club’s all-time Premier League scoring charts. His crowning moment at the club came in May 2025, when he scored the only goal in Crystal Palace’s historic FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, which gave the club its first-ever major trophy in its 164-year history. He also won the FA Community Shield with Crystal Palace that summer before departing.

Arsenal

On the final day of the transfer window in 2025, Eze completed a £60 million move to boyhood club Arsenal. He was handed the iconic number 10 shirt upon arrival. On November 23, 2025, he announced his Arsenal arrival spectacularly with a hat-trick in the north London derby in a 4–1 victory over Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium, where he became the first player in the Premier League era to score a North London derby hat-trick. In the 2025–26 season, he has recorded seven goals and two assists in the Premier League, contributing to Arsenal reaching the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain scheduled for May 30, 2026, and winning the Premier League title.

International career

Eze began his international career at the youth level with the England national under-20 and under-21 teams before earning his first senior cap in 2023. He was a member of England’s Euro 2024 squad, where they reached the final before losing to Spain. In March 2025, he scored his first senior international goal in a 3–0 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying win over Latvia. He has since earned 16 senior caps for England. Eze would go on to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where England will compete in Group L against Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.

Personal life

Eze is married to Naima Corbin, the girl he met as a teenager at The John Roan School in Greenwich. The couple tied the knot in 2022 and later celebrated their union in May 2025 with three separate ceremonies, including a traditional Nigerian wedding honoring their heritage, followed by a lavish reception at Two Temple Place on the Strand in Central London, with the full story shared exclusively with British Vogue.
