One of the most visible signs of Salah’s faith is his goal celebration. After scoring, he often performs sujood, the Islamic act of prostration in prayer as a way of thanking Allah. This celebration has become one of his trademarks in football. Recognized as one of the most prolific right wingers to ever don a Liverpool jersey, Mohamed Salah is a widely celebrated figure among fans of “Anfield.” Although Salah started his career in Egypt, he quickly attracted attention from international clubs. His career has taken him across Europe, and he has become an integral player in both the Italian and English leagues.

Contracts, Salaries & Career Earnings

Salah’s career earnings tell the story of his extraordinary rise through the game. He earned £30,000 per week at Chelsea in 2013–14, £28,884 at Fiorentina in 2014–15, and between £83,333 and £102,921 per week during his two seasons at Roma.

In July 2017, he signed a five-year contract worth $31.2 million with Liverpool, earning £120,000 per week in his debut season. Following his record-breaking first campaign at Anfield, he signed a five-year extension in July 2018 worth approximately $52 million, raising his weekly wage to £200,000, where it remained through to the end of the 2021–22 season. Early life

Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghaly was born on 15 June 1992 in Nagrig, a small village near Basyoun in the Gharbia Governorate, north of Cairo, Egypt. From a young age, Salah showed a deep passion for football. He spent most of his free time playing on the streets of his village with friends and his brother. As a teenager, he joined local clubs such as Ittihad Basyoun and Othmason Tanta before being spotted at age 14 by scouts from Al Mokawloon (Arab Contractors) in Cairo.

Charity

In his charity work, he established the Salah Society for Charity in Nagrig, which provides approximately 50,000 Egyptian pounds per month to the poor, widows, orphans, and emergency cases and also covers the marriage costs of those who cannot afford it. In 2018, he also donated $715,000 to the Basyoun hospital neighboring Nagrig, funding renovations to ICU units and the purchase of beds, ventilators, and updated medical equipment. That same year, he spent $450,000 to buy and donate a five-acre plot of land in Nagrig for the construction of a sewage treatment plant, aimed at providing clean drinking water and sanitation services to the village and surrounding communities.

Beyond Nagrig, Salah donated €2.75 million to the National Cancer Institute in Cairo, €133,000 to rebuild a church in Giza following a fire, and provides €4,000 monthly to needy families. He also donated LE12 million to a Cairo children’s cancer hospital and LE5 million to the Tahia Misr Fund for hepatitis treatment. It has been reported that he donates approximately six percent of his total wealth to charitable causes.

Personal life

Salah and his wife, Magi, married in 2013 while he was playing for Basel. Their elder daughter, Makka, was born in October 2014, and their younger daughter, Kayan, was born in February 2020.
